The best that you can to for your carpet is to use it! Once a week you should clean a carpet with a vacuum-cleaner. However, you should not put it on a spar and pound it with a willow. Two – three times per year you should upturn your carpet and clean a flip-side with a vacuum-cleaner. In winter you can put a carpet upside on the snow and mildly pound. You will be surprised what a grey mark it will leave. Finally, don’t forget to blot up the carpet with a towel.
If you spill some water on it, dry it up. Don’t put flower pots on the carpet, because bottom texture may rot away and splinter. As long as your pets are not really clean, you should not let them on a carpet. Dogs’ and cats’ excrements putrefy the texture and foul the colors.
Once per ten years it is good to clean a carpet professionally. Small carpets you can wash by yourself, but don’t use chlorine water – put few spoons of soap powder and a splash of vinegar. Wash it carefully, wipe crosswise to the pile of carpet, after immediately dry it up. Don’t put a carpet in the sun. Don’t leave it to close to the door, because one side of a carpet may sag and spindle. Same thing may happen if a corner of a carpet will be often pulled. Put a carpet on a smooth surface, otherwise it may loose it’s shape. If a carpet is not going to be used for a while, enlace it around the stick and put some cure for moths. Carpet that you like a lot and which has served you for a long time you can hang on a wall, but carpet’s fringes should not be between wall and the carpet, otherwise it will gather dust.
